Skirt
A girl’s skirt made from warp dominant, plain-weave ground cloth made of handspun, indigo-dyed cotton. The skirt is embroidered with purple, yellow, light blue, and maroon silk. Most of the silk embroidery has been replaced by rayon. The edges of the skirt are embroidered with the mut (bird) and yax te (ceiba tree) designs, while the center of the skirt is embroidered with yok kaxlan (chicken foot) motifs. The skirt is also decorated with four wrapped brocade zig-zag designs woven from the same indigo-dyed cotton as the ground fabric.
